I Always Feel Better In The NUDE (Lipstick, that is)

I Always Feel Better In The NUDE (Lipstick, that is)

Being comfortable in your own skin is paramount. As women, people just LOOOOOVE to tell us their, often unwarranted, input on how we should do things. On one hand, you have people saying if you are into fashion and make up, you are shallow and superficial. On the other hand, you have people saying if you don't have a drawer full of 50 different lipsticks, you're not doing this whole "woman thing" right. Funny (but sad) thing about this commentary: the perpetrators of these prejudices are often other women. We should be lifting each other up rather than being so quick to criticize one another. I think the Spice Girls were doing something right when they said "GIRL POWER!"

Also, people really need to stop operating in such extremes. Who says you can't be a beauty addict and a braniac?

My entire life, my dad has always stressed to me, "you do not want to be a 'one dimensional' person." So...I am not a one dimensional person, nor will I ever be. For me, I love all things glamorous and girly. From day one of my life, I have been the quintessential girly girl. On the flip-side, I would like to consider myself quite the intellectual... if I do say so myself. I regard myself as a deep thinker, a critical thinker, and have a hunger for knowledge on topics foreign to me. Make no mistake, I am not sitting here thinking I am Einstein, but I feel confident in the assertion I have a lot going on upstairs. Just trying to be a sista with a beautiful mind, beautiful soul, and beautiful face. Can I get an AMEN?!

So today's advice is for the beauty addicts, the braniacs, those lucky enough to be both, and everyone in between. Nude lipstick is great for everyone! Whether you barely wear any makeup and like to accentuate your natural beauty or you SLAYYYY everyday with full face of make up, Nude lipstick is a friend to all.

You DO, however, need to figure out nude colors that work well for you. It needs to pair well with your skin tone and natural coloring of your lips (are your lips pink? red? brown? etc.). I do not think Lupita Nyong'o and Anne Hathaway wear the same nude lipstick. I could be wrong, but...I just don't think so.

There are also many different undertones when it comes to nudes. Some nude lipsticks have a pink undertone or peach or tan, etc. I will share some of my favorite nudes.

(again, LIPSTICK... get your mind out of the gutter. Jeeze, people!)

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Matte Lipstick "Ashton"

This is what I am wearing in the main photo of this article. This is my favorite lipstick of all time (so far). This is more of a terracotta style nude. On my skin tone, it goes on a nice peachy brownish. I have let fair skinned friends try it and it looks brown on them, still a beautiful color, but definitely would not consider it in the nude family for people with fair skin and freckles. If you have more of an olive toned skin or darker, it should come out more along the lines of what it looks like on me.

Too Faced Melted Chocolate Lipstick "Chocolate Honey"

This smells like chocolate (Uh-maze-ing) and is infused with cocoa powder. This formula is very thin, but offers full coverage.

bareMinerals GEN NUDE Liquid Matte Lipstick "Om" & "Friendship"

Okay so, bareMinerals is my kind of company. Not only are they dedicated to natural ingredients, they debuted a new line this year called GEN NUDE. It offers 60 different shades of lip products in an effort to bring us a nude shade for every skin/lip tone. I have two of their colors and I LOVE it (Om & Friendship).

MAC Matte Lipstick "Honey Love"

Every skin/lip tone works well with this color. This is a sexy, sultry color you can dress up or down. Personally, I love this with smokey or bronzed eye looks. It is supa supaaa matte though. So yeah, if you are going through a period of time with chapped lips, do not use. You know when you use matte lipstick on top of chapped lips and your lips look like they are the texture of a warm butter croissant, just flaking off everywhere? It's not cute. I know. Especially in the winter with the dry weather, LAWD SAVE US ALL.

NARS Blonde Venus

As you can see from the photo, it is time to replenish so I think that speaks volumes.

Buy It. DO IT.
