Summer Cocktail Series: July is for Strawberry Kiwi Gin & Tonics
This week, I want to share my very own twist on a bar staple: the gin and tonic. Now, I must preface this by saying I used to think gin tasted like tree sap. I've never licked a tree, but I still maintain the flavor profile would be very similar to gin.
My, my, my... how things have changed. I have actually grown to really enjoy gin and tonics. I find them simple and refreshing. Since I've never been a soda drinker, but I do enjoy bubbles, I love the carbonation of the tonic water paired with the citrus of lemon and lime.
I played around in the kitchen and came up with a strawberry kiwi version of the cocktail. I love to take advantage of seasonal fruits so strawberry and kiwi seemed like the perfect mix.
1 TSP Lime Juice
1 TSP Lemon Juice
1 Shot of Gin
Tonic water as needed
Slice fruit and muddle together in a cup. Add the lemon and lime juice to the muddled fruit. Splash in the shot of gin. Mix. Add ice and tonic water. Then, stir all of the ingredients together until the flavor is to your liking. Pour the concoction into the glass of your choosing.
