Classic Elegance: It's a Lifestyle
The beautiful thing about being your authentic self is that you really don't have to try. Being you should be the most uncontrived thing on the planet. I know we've all seen those ladies who look like a baby deer in heels. I'm all for venturing outside of your comfort zone, but if it's not you, don't feel obligated to partake in any style or trend. I am the first person to tell you, I do not do every little 5-minute trend out there. I do glamorous, chic, and classic. Find what you're naturally drawn to and create a life around that.
Finding your personal style can be one of the most rewarding things you can do. Not to toot my own horn, but I've always been complimented on how put together I am (BEEP BEEP). The reason it appears to be effortless is because it really is who I am. I genuinely enjoy being "fancy." Being sloppy just doesn't appeal to me. Now, I am not here to say everyone should be like me. Quite the opposite, I'm saying not to feel like you need to be anything other than what suits YOU.
If you've been reading my blog for a while, you know I'm always reiterating that God loves variety. We aren't all meant to be the same and the world is a far more beautiful place because of it. One of the things I'm most proud of is that I've always had extremely eclectic friends. You can be a tomboy, hipster, girly girl, etc and I'll welcome you as a friend. You see, I make friendships based on a heart connection, not necessarily common interests. I love my diverse group of friends and I wouldn't change it for the world.
So don't be that girl walking like a deer. Be that fierce woman in whatever pair of shoes she likes! Just because you see a particular style starting to trend, don't feel compelled to jump on the bandwagon if it's not "on-brand." You are a brand. The way you present yourself to others is like your own little PR campaign.
It's so funny. My boyfriend, Zack, knows my brand so well. He can see something and say, "you're going to love this." Nine times out of 10, it's A.) something to do with luxury B.) something to do with dogs or C.) something empowering for women. What can I say, I'm predictable! My brand has a clear voice and vision for things that fit within it.
It is paramount you feel comfortable in your own skin. There is no way to properly identify your personal style without loving ALL of who you are, inside and out. If not, I promise you, you will be trying to be something you're not. So, start to love the inside before you start working on the outside. Please, please, please remember a woman has much more to offer than her looks... but there's nothing wrong with deeply caring about your outer appearance. As long as you have a kind heart and a plethora of knowledge in your brain, who cares if you take 500 selfies when you know you look good?
