How to Protect Suede

How to Protect Suede

Over the years, I think I’ve made it abundantly clear that I have a special affinity towards winter fashion. I think wearing more articles of clothing gives you the ability to get more creative with your style and really showcase your creativity. From gorgeous coats to cute hats, there are daily opportunities to be chic.

The word chic is not a word I take lightly. When you look chic, you don’t just look “cute.” To me, looking chic is the embodiment of timeless elegance, sophistication, and on-trend style. I haaaate when people use that word at inappropriate times. In fact, the misuse of words is one of my pet peeves in general. I can’t stand when people say something is “stunning.” When in actuality, it is just meh. Like, seriously? STUNNINGGGG? Are you taken aback by the beauty you are experiencing? Are you about to pass out because something is so astonishingly beautiful? Then, stopppppp calling things stunning. But I digress…

In my opinion, one of the key elements that give winter looks their chic “wow” factor is a great pair of boots. I loveeee a gorgeous pair of boots (YASSSS LAWDDD). My preferred fabric for boots is suede (I’m a sucker for suede pumps too). Suede is gorgeous, cozy, and luxe. I love a good pair of pointed toe suede boots like these Stuart Weitzman boots pictured below.

The fabric is a gorgeous and delicate slouchy suede. I’m in loveeeee.

HOWEVER, I have to keep it real with my people. As a girl that has at least 10-12 pairs of suede shoes, I have to tell the truth. I have to admit suede is high maintenance (just like yours truly). It can get scuffed and unkempt if you’re not careful. You must be conscious of stains, water spots, etc. It takes hard work to be a suede lover because I don’t know about you, but I am not going to be out in these streets with raggedy shoes. As Randy from American Idol famously said, “it’s gonna be a no for me, dawggg.” So, what’s a girl to do to keep all of her suede boots in tip top condition? Look no further than this suede protector I found at Nordstrom.

Okay, so, let’s get down to the nitty gritty of how this product will make sure your suede shoe game is always on point. With 59 reviews (about to be 60 because you know your girl is about to leave a review) and a 5-star rating on the Nordstrom website, this product is a godsend. Simply put, it keeps your suede and nubuck shoes shielded from the elements. It protects you from water and stains while preserving the style. It does all of that work without discoloring your shoes. Can I get an amen?!

How to use:

Please note: Surface to be treated must be clean and dry.

Before use, spray in an inconspicuous area and check for adverse effects. Shake well and spray evenly. Hold the can about 6 to 8 inches away from the surface. The seams and soles may require extra spray. For the best results, allow shoes to dry for an hour and spray again.

As you can see, it’s super easy to use and a necessary step in protecting your investment. I’m a shoe girl through and through. My shoes are my most prized possession and always have been. It’s very important that my nice shoes stand the test of time and I’m so glad I found this product.

I hope this helps you keep those suede shoes of yours in gorgeous condition!
